Unsur-unsur konstruktivisme telah lama dipraktikkan dalam kaedah pengajaran dan pembelajaran di peringkat sekolah, maktab dan universiti tetapi tidak begitu ketara dan tidak ditekankan. Melalui teknik ini para pelajar dapat menggunakan kemahiran belajar seperti mengumpulkan maklumat, menjalankan temuramah dengan individu tertentu dan mencatat isi-isi penting.
